How does the UK duty calculator work?
The calculator uses simplified UK tariff rates (UK Global Tariff) for the most common goods categories. The rates are calculated on the basis of the customs value of the goods (CIF — cost + insurance + freight). Import VAT in the UK is normally 20% and is charged on the customs value plus duty.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the duty on imports to the UK from Poland?
Goods from Poland and the EU benefit from a 0% duty rate under the TCA, provided the rules of origin are met. This requires a EUR.1 certificate or an invoice declaration. Goods not originating in the EU (e.g. manufactured in China and merely distributed through Poland) do not qualify for TCA preferences.
Do I have to pay VAT when importing into the UK?
Yes, if the value of the consignment exceeds £135. Import VAT is 20% and is charged on the customs value plus duty. UK VAT-registered businesses can reclaim import VAT on their VAT return, so effectively they only pay the duty and the customs agency fee.
How do I get the exact duty rate for my goods?
You can find the exact duty rate in the UK Trade Tariff (HMRC) after entering the 10-digit HS commodity code. If you don't know the HS code for your goods, our specialists will help you determine it — get in touch via WhatsApp.
Disclaimer: The calculator gives indicative duty rates and does not replace professional tariff classification. The exact rate depends on the 10-digit HS code, the customs value, the rules of origin and current HMRC regulations.
