Explore OfferSituation: Company importing 35 shipments monthly from UK, with a warehouse in Essex, wanted to shorten border-to-clearance time.
Solution: EIDR audit and HMRC application (6 weeks), ERTS implementation, warehouse team training.
Result: Clearance time reduced from 4–6 hours to under 2 hours, savings on warehouse costs and border delays.
EIDR (Entry in Declarant's Records) is a simplified UK procedure allowing authorised importers to register clearances at their own location instead of filing full declarations for each shipment. CFSP (Customs Freight Simplified Procedures) is the HMRC system supporting these simplified declarations. It allows goods to be held in a warehouse before clearance registration, reducing border delays and simplifying operational workflows.
Companies importing regularly (minimum 20+ shipments per month), with a UK warehouse or office, with positive customs history. At least one HMRC authorisation (e.g. CTPA, CFSP) and ability to obtain a deferment account are required. HMRC makes the final qualification decision based on risk analysis and documentation.
Typically 4–8 weeks from application to HMRC, depending on documentation completeness and customs history. In some cases HMRC may request additional investigation or documents, extending the timeline. We work to accelerate HMRC communication.
Yes. EIDR/CFSP requires a deferment account (duty payment deferral account) with an approved provider at a limit authorised by HMRC based on risk analysis and your turnover. This provides payment flexibility but requires solid internal procedures.
Full CDS declaration requires individual notification of each shipment in the CDS system before goods can leave the point of entry. EIDR allows you to register clearances at your own warehouse, simplifying workflows and reducing border delays. CDS is the standard procedure; EIDR is a simplified option for authorised importers.
