✓ UK Export Checklist 2026

Use this list before every shipment of goods to the United Kingdom. Tick each item before the driver departs.

Section 1 — Core documents

Commercial Invoice
Minimum: value, goods description, weight, country of origin — in English
Packing list
Number of packages, gross/net weights, dimensions
PL EORI number of the exporter
Format: PL + 10 digits — registered in PUESC
EX export declaration (or simplified procedure)
Submitted in PUESC — confirmed by the customs broker
HS code of the goods (8 digits)
Verify in the EU Customs Tariff — incorrect code = problems at the border
EUR.1 certificate or statement on invoice
If the goods qualify for preferential TCA duty (0%)
Delivery instructions (Incoterms)
Agreed term with the buyer: EXW, FCA, DAP, DDP, etc.

Section 2 — Transport documents

CMR consignment note
Completed and signed by the sender — copy in the driver's cab
GMR number
If the route passes through a GVMS port (Dover, Eurotunnel, Harwich) — obtain from the customs broker
Export MRN
Reference number from the customs declaration — driver must have it before departure
Loading instructions
Dimensions, cargo weight, ADR (if dangerous goods)
Cargo insurance policy
Cargo insurance — required for high-value consignments

Section 3 — Special controls (if applicable)

Phytosanitary certificate
Fruit, vegetables, timber, plant products — issued by WIJHARS
Veterinary certificate
Animal products, dairy, meat — issued by PIW (local veterinary inspectorate)
UKCA / CE certificate
Electronics, machinery, toys, medical devices — required for sale in the UK
Export licence
Dual-use goods, weapons, military technology — authorisation from MRPiT
⚠ Important: The driver MUST NOT depart without the export MRN and GMR number (if a GVMS port). Missing documents = held at the border. Call the customs broker before departure: +44 7404 091503
